VetPartners

Contributing Source: 2023 BC esg report

VetPartners enhanced its customized online sustainability learning resources for all staff, incorporating case studies from practices and in-depth webinars on specialized topics. In collaboration with the VetPartners Clinical Board and Anaesthesia Clinical Interest Group, VetPartners launched a campaign to minimize the environmental impact of anesthesia. This initiative included a series of webinars, reference guides, and a commitment to phase out nitrous oxide across the group, resulting in over 99% of practices discontinuing its use. Throughout the past year, VetPartners has continued to recycle traditionally non-recyclable items through TerraCycle, diverting 6.5 tonnes of PPE, plastic packaging, and blister packs from landfill. Waste reduction remains a focal point, highlighted by an innovative research project titled Project DRAPES (Drapes in Routine Aseptic Procedures for Environmental Sustainability). Awarded a research grant in October 2022, this project aims to compare wound complication rates between patients treated with reusable textile drapes versus disposable ones, providing veterinary surgeons with evidence to make sustainable choices that uphold patient outcomes.

Shawbrook

Contributing Source: 2023 BC esg report

In 2022, Shawbrook formulated its climate strategy as a central element of its broader ESG agenda. The company has committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050, with a milestone to reach net zero in its own operations by 2035. Shawbrook is currently focused on facilitating the transition to net zero by utilizing its insights and expertise to guide its internal efforts and support customers on their own paths toward net zero. The strategy is structured around three main pillars, featuring defined priorities and measurable targets across short, medium, and long-term horizons. Progress against these goals will be regularly reported, including through annual climate disclosures, as outlined in their inaugural Task Force for Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) report.

NAVEX

Contributing Source: Responsibility | BC Partners

As a software company, NAVEX sees the value in focusing on people through strong commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). It seeks to provide opportunities to individuals from underserved communities by offering internships that both help build awareness about the industry and give them real world experience to bolster their resumes for the future. For more experienced hires, NAVEX has engaged with various recruitment platforms in order to build its diverse candidate pipeline - as evidenced by the numbers; as of 2021, 52% of all NAVEX hires self-identified as racially diverse. As part of supporting inclusion and belonging on an ongoing basis, NAVEX encourages affinity groups that help build an internal community amongst colleagues (e.g., LGBTQA+, Women in Sales and Parenting). Further, the company provides team members with up to 16 hours per year that they can dedicate to local volunteering, along with other options to contribute to NAVEX’s giving programs.
