AdventHealth

Contributing Source: 2023 ESG report

In October 2022, AdventHealth, a faith-based health system headquartered in Altamonte Springs, Florida, committed to significant environmental goals by signing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Climate Pledge. This commitment includes a target to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve net zero emissions by 2050. AdventHealth has identified that nearly two-thirds of its scope 1 and scope 2 emissions stem from purchased energy used to power its hospitals and facilities. Given the diverse scale and geographic spread of its operations, coupled with site-specific challenges and spacing constraints, AdventHealth recognizes the necessity for customized approaches rather than a one-size-fits-all solution to effectively reduce emissions. This strategic commitment underscores AdventHealth's proactive stance in integrating sustainability into its core operations, aiming to advance environmental stewardship alongside its healthcare mission.

Firm and Portfolio Companies

Contributing Source: 2022 Sustainability Report

The Let's Save Lives Hackathon event hosted by Brookfield's IT Talent Development Program in 2022 aimed to develop innovative solutions for health and safety across its portfolio. Participants proposed various ideas - such as using data analytics to predict and prevent potential incidents, along with the adoption of new safety technologies like tech-enabled PPE and worksite robots. The collaboration resulted in building a one-prototype solution for all Brookfield portfolio companies to leverage in 2023. This event's success led to the continuation of the hackathon in 2023 to support Brookfield's net-zero efforts.
